29c91f4 Matthew Hoffman 19 April 2018, 18:39:38 UTC Merge branch 'matthewhoffman/mpas/update_to_release_tag' (PR #2235) This merge updates the MPAS source submodules to the MPAS v6.0 release tag. There are no changes to the component code functionality, only changes to descriptive information (MPAS version number, variable metadata, etc.). It also moves the MPAS source submodule from the old location at ACME-Climate/MPAS to use the publicly available MPAS repo at MPAS-Dev/MPAS-Model. Note that this only affects new clones of E3SM; existing clones will continue to use the original submodule location until the user manually performs the 'git submodule sync' command. The new MPAS URL contains all commits that exist in the old one, so new clones that have the submodule set to the new location will have access to all old MPAS commits. They are based on compset H01A but retuned after MG2 fixes introduced after H01A and H01B were created. Simulations with the new F-2000 case have TOA net imbalance consistent with the expected values for both present day and pre-industrial conditions. The climatology is broadly consistent with that of H01A Three compsets are added: F-2000, F-1850, and 20th century transient. They are provided as an alternative for performing ne120 simulations. We currently use the default, and so this does not change any behavior. This is just to protect us when/if the system default changes. Remove requesting specific version for git on cori. This is necessary for reproducibility with respect to thread count for the CMIP6 compsets when using the PGI compiler on Titan. Fixes #2227 This is BFB for all systems except Titan when using PGI. On Titan when using PGI, this is BFB for all compsets not using prescribed volcanic aerosols and not using the new energy fixer in CAM. Previously it was only allowed to be configured with the -nospmd flag. Tests performed on Blues, Edison, and Titan verify the SCM successfully builds and runs (b4b) with this new setup. f1fe3b3 Jon Wolfe 12 April 2018, 14:52:22 UTC Merge branch 'jonbob/mpas/change-source-location' (PR #2157) Change location of MPAS source code to allow for a single MPAS submodule This PR modifies the buildlib scripts for all three MPAS components, to allow for moving to a system with a single MPAS submodule instead of three. It also decreases the number of files copied to the build directories -- now just the required subdirectories instead of the entire MPAS source. After discussion, we can merge this with the current git specification and open a new PR to point at the git repo to be released, which will have different submodule hashes. Also modify parts of cime for e3sm to handle that move. While innocuous, these changes eliminate the warnings. Details: a) Added GPTLstartstop_val and GPTLstartstop_valf to gptl.h, to declare return type for these routines when called from f_wrappers.c. This was a bug, but did not cause any problems, and only a few compilers complained about the subsequent 'implicit' typing. b) The calls to the gptl makefile define the CPP tokens HAVE_COMM_F2C and HAVE_GETTIMEOFDAY for many systems. These are also defined by default in private.h and gptl.h, respectively. This change checks whether they are already defined before trying to define them again.
