The current version of the 'newtx' LaTeX package in CTAN [1] is version 1.7, which has a bug. The README file at CTAN [1] states that version 1.701 corrects the bug, but version 1.701 is not yet provided on the CTAN mirror servers. This commit provides a hack that should only have an effect if the the buggy file 'newtxtext.sty' (with an unclosed 'if' statement) is the same as in version 1.7 . This commit should be reverted once 1.701 or more recent versions that have fixed the bug are distributed by CTAN. [1] https://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/fonts/newtx
