7) The new (2006-07-28) behavior:

    > cobs(x,y, "decrease", knots = ux, nknots = length(ux))
    Warning message:
    The number of knots can't be equal to the number of unique x for degree=2.
    'cobs' has automatically deleted the middle knot. in: cobs(x, y,
    "decrease", knots = ux, nknots = length(ux))

   seems wrong to me:  Smoothing.splines are degree =2 and have
   knots == unique(x).  It really depends on the boundary conditions (or
    knot multiplicity at x[1] or x[length(x)].

6) weights 'w'  are *NOT* used in l1.design2() and loo.design2()
    ----   ==>
       1) non constant-weights should give a warning for the moment
       2) FIXME !!!

  src/Makevars		uses
  libs/cholesky.a		which is completely inappropriate! The pkg  MUST
			  contain source code only!

  --> fixed src/Makevars; removed libs/

1b) ./ReadMe removed and merged to ./README

2)  tests/  was completely missing in 'scobs' --> take the one from 'cobs'

3)  data/   contained much less data sets than  ~/R/Pkgs/cobs99/data/
	    --> filled up

4)  src/New/ and  src/Orig/  also removed

5)  rm CONTENTS INDEX .R-porting
