However, they were very well tested and fixed major problems on all other platforms. Including all the all the BSD's. OpenBSD and FreeBSD 5-current both use these official sjlj patches. 976649f | Matthew Dillon | 09 April 2001, 23:35:19 UTC | Late edition: rpcinfo, mount, and umount are using different mechanisms to do portmap lookups. Some use tcp connections to portmap, others use udp. In anycase, using udp for RPC requests causes the old 'reply from the wrong IP address' problem to rear its ugly head so this commit is a quick hack to add the -h option to portmap. The semantics are the same as -h in nfsd (including backwards compatibility if you don't use -h). portmap no longer exists in current so this is 4.x only. I will check current's new rpc mechanism to see if it has the same problem and fix it there if it does. Approved: jkh | 09 April 2001, 23:35:19 UTC |

205b9cb | Greg Lehey | 08 April 2001, 02:18:14 UTC | struct drive: Workaround size mismatch in struct drive on alpha platform only. This struct is shared between kernel and userland and contains a dev_t, which now refers to a completely different structure in userland and kernel: int the kernel, userland dev_t is called udev_t, and dev_t is struct specinfo *. In practical terms, kernel dev_t is a pointer and userland dev_t is an int, which on the alpha are different sizes. As stated, this is a workaround. The correct fix would be in two parts: 1. Don't define structures in the kernel with the same name and a different content as a userland structure. This is a kernel-wide issue: kernel dev_t needs another name. 2. Don't export unnecessary kernel structures to userland. This can be done within Vinum. It is currently on the tuit queue. dd16a78 | Greg Lehey | 04 April 2001, 06:27:11 UTC | vinumlock: Catch a potential race condition where one process is waiting for a lock, and between the time it is woken and it retries the lock, another process gets it and places it in the first entry in the table. This problem has not been observed, but it's possible, and it's easy enough to fix. Submitted by: tegge vinumunlock: Catch a real bug capable of hanging a system. When releasing a lock, vinumunlock() called wakeup_one. This caused wakeups to sometimes get lost. After due consideration, we think that this is due to the fact that you can't guarantee that some other process is also waiting on the same address. This makes wakeup_one a very dangerous function to use. These changes have not yet been committed to -CURRENT. In view of the seriousness of the second one and the imminent 4.3-RELEASE, it seems excusable to commit to -STABLE first. 36 hour test by: grog Suggested by: alfred Suffered by: Andrew Gordon <arg@arg1.demon.co.uk> Approved by: jkh | 04 April 2001, 06:27:11 UTC |

8e4a7cf | Yar Tikhiy | 29 March 2001, 10:33:00 UTC | MFC: (1.26) Fix a number of minor bugs in the VLAN code: * Initialize the "struct sockaddr_dl sdl" correctly in vlan_setmulti(). * The driver used to call malloc(..., M_NOWAIT), but to not check the return value. Change malloc(..., M_NOWAIT) to malloc(..., M_WAITOK) because the corresponding part of code is called from the upper half of the kernel only. * Make sure a parent interface is up and running before invoking its if_start() routine in order to avoid system panic. * Do not copy all the flags from a parent mindlessly. * Do not call if_down() on a parent interface if it's already down. Call if_down() at splimp because if_down() needs that. Approved by: jkh | 29 March 2001, 10:33:00 UTC |
