c498629 Consensus on -stable (and #fightclub) is that "standard-supfile" should default to the branch from which the code came. So if you pull down RELENG_4 it defaults to RELENG_4, get -current and 'tag=.'. And when we get the 'bug fix only' branch for 4.3, standard-supfile on that branch should point specifically at that branch. Approved by: jkh 11 April 2001, 21:50:13 UTC

cd7dde5 MFC: bring in GCC 2.95.3 + official sjlj exception fixes. Approved by: jkh The the setjump/longjump exception handling fixes are from GCC 2.95.3.test3 and were removed from GCC 2.95.3.test4 and the subsequent release due to bootstrap problems on HP-UX. However, they were very well tested and fixed major problems on all other platforms. Including all the all the BSD's. OpenBSD and FreeBSD 5-current both use these official sjlj patches. W/o this upgrade the following program segmentation faults if compiled with -O2 (but not -Os or -O or -O0) on 4.2FreeBSD. There are some large C++ libraries where segfaults also occur, even at -O. #include <stdio.h> class A { public: A() { printf("c'tor A\n"); } ~A(){ printf("d'tor A\n"); } }; class foo : public A { public: foo() { printf("C'tor foo\n"); throw 8; } ~foo() { printf("D'tor foo\n"); } }; int main(){ try { foo fii; } catch (int){ printf("catch ...\n"); } return 0; } 10 April 2001, 19:23:41 UTC

976649f Late edition: rpcinfo, mount, and umount are using different mechanisms to do portmap lookups. Some use tcp connections to portmap, others use udp. In anycase, using udp for RPC requests causes the old 'reply from the wrong IP address' problem to rear its ugly head so this commit is a quick hack to add the -h option to portmap. The semantics are the same as -h in nfsd (including backwards compatibility if you don't use -h). portmap no longer exists in current so this is 4.x only. I will check current's new rpc mechanism to see if it has the same problem and fix it there if it does. Approved: jkh 09 April 2001, 23:35:19 UTC
0452ae1 MFC: Fix pkg_version(1) version comparison, pkg_version -t, make test target for testing. Makefile 1.7->1.8 pkg_version.1 1.14->1.15 pkg_version.pl 1.17->1.18 test-pkg_version.sh 1.1 Approved by: jkh 09 April 2001, 22:29:10 UTC

205b9cb struct drive: Workaround size mismatch in struct drive on alpha platform only. This struct is shared between kernel and userland and contains a dev_t, which now refers to a completely different structure in userland and kernel: int the kernel, userland dev_t is called udev_t, and dev_t is struct specinfo *. In practical terms, kernel dev_t is a pointer and userland dev_t is an int, which on the alpha are different sizes. As stated, this is a workaround. The correct fix would be in two parts: 1. Don't define structures in the kernel with the same name and a different content as a userland structure. This is a kernel-wide issue: kernel dev_t needs another name. 2. Don't export unnecessary kernel structures to userland. This can be done within Vinum. It is currently on the tuit queue. dd16a78 vinumlock: Catch a potential race condition where one process is waiting for a lock, and between the time it is woken and it retries the lock, another process gets it and places it in the first entry in the table. This problem has not been observed, but it's possible, and it's easy enough to fix. Submitted by: tegge vinumunlock: Catch a real bug capable of hanging a system. When releasing a lock, vinumunlock() called wakeup_one. This caused wakeups to sometimes get lost. After due consideration, we think that this is due to the fact that you can't guarantee that some other process is also waiting on the same address. This makes wakeup_one a very dangerous function to use. These changes have not yet been committed to -CURRENT. In view of the seriousness of the second one and the imminent 4.3-RELEASE, it seems excusable to commit to -STABLE first. 36 hour test by: grog Suggested by: alfred Suffered by: Andrew Gordon <arg@arg1.demon.co.uk> Approved by: jkh 04 April 2001, 06:27:11 UTC
